In trying to practicalize standardization of test items, Dr. Obinne had to construct and validate test items in Biology. Dr. Obinne's research interest took her into look at teachers testing abilities when teaching in and out of their areas of certification. Lately she found that testing in Nigeria is based on the classical Test Theory, she had to in her research look at the use of an alternative test theory which is the Item Response Theory (IRT). This theory recognizes the student latent abilities. She has published a number of articles based on this theory.
