Project evaluation and review

Demonstrable improvement in the quality of DFID basic education project evaluation

Conduct and provide support to annual and in-depth reviews and evaluation of GEP3, DEEPEN and TDP

Operational research

Demonstrable improvement in the design, implementation and application of operational research, in the first instance in GEP3

Conduct and embed the findings of a set of six research studies to help resolve specific operational problems in GEP3 driven by demands from the UNICEF programme managers and wider review processes

Quantitative data quality review

Demonstrable improvements in the quality assessment of DFID project, State and Federal education data

Review and thereby assess the need for the improvement of education data series at project, State and Federal levels

Knowledge management

Demonstrable improvement in access to, and the capacity to use, robust basic education research and evaluation by DFID, DFID education projects, and State governments

Gather, package, disseminate and support the use of data and research from DFID education projects and EDOREN for key decision-makers and researchers in projects, government, DFID and other institutions influential in education policy in Nigeria

Thematic research

Provide significant policy and practice insights into basic education in Nigeria

Design and undertake long-term quantitative and qualitative school effectiveness surveys.

Strategy/ capacity/PEA

Improved DFIDN education strategy, national capacity built, use of PEA improved

Support DFIDN education strategy, develop and implement capacity development strategy, and conduct PEA with DFIDN education projects
