Mentoring the English Language Teacher in the Primary School for the Development of Proficiency in English Language Teaching

Abstract:

The state of deterioration in the proficiency od language teachers in the primary school is said to be part of why our educational system is in the rots. This paper attempts to present a novel perspective to solving the problem of lack of proficiency in the oral and written form of the English language at the primary school level. The paper posits that mentoring of primary school teachers by renowned and proficient University Lecturers could possibly step down the tide of deterioration in English Language teaching in Nigerian primary schools.
