Examination Malpractice at the Post-Primary School Level

Abstract:

Examination malpractice in the Nigeria education dates back to 1914 when the senior Cambridge Local Examination leaked. Examination malpractice however gained prominence in 1977 when there was widespread leakage in the School Certificate Examination. The report of this incidence dominated headlines in the national dailies entitled "The Malpractice Expo 77". In spite of the different attempts made to curb the incidence of examination malpractice, it has been on the increase. The author is of the humble opinion that examination malpractice can best be approached by increasing the university intakes proportionate to those seeking University education at the end of secondary education.
